I'm Laura, a visual designer at IBM. My design interests span various fields: ranging from inclusive, user focused design, software design and design for children. One thing that spans these interests is designing to make a difference. Whether it is designing to aid learning, designing to make a person’s everyday life/job easier, or designing to spread awareness, I like to think I can make a small positive impact with my work.
I believe that accessibility should be considered at the forefront of the design process, as often only small alterations to a design can allow for many more people to be able to access, interact with and utilise a design solution. Educating myself about how screen-readers interpret HTML, as well as how people with visual impairments navigate around the page, is a practice that ensures my designs are as inclusive as possible.
